My Leucistic Texas Rat is doing the same... he really frowns upon fuzzies (today he bit at one, looked like he'd start swallowing, then spit it out), but goes after pinkies (multiples) like they're going out of style.

It was suggested to me that I simply let that meal pass until next time. And if the snake doesn't eat next time, let it pass again... and again until it eats - the idea being that eventually that fuzzy will look very appetizing. Unfortunately, I broke today and tried to rub a pinky on the fuzzy. Well, he got the pinky and you already know what happened to the fuzzy. Now I gotta start all over because I broke first!!! LOL.

Good luck!

He actually does have "blue eyes"... they're just black because I had to adjust the pic for Red Eye from the flash. LOL.

This may be odd, but I have a snake that is partial to the color of the fuzzy, mouse. If it is a dark or black, he wont eat it. Try cutting the mouse. Some call it "brainin", but I have problems cutting open a mouse's brain. Any smell of blood will encourage the appetite. Good luck

Thanks! It's not that big of a deal for me (he's still only 20 inches long and a baby - unlike the originator of the thread's snake). I'm gonna try waiting him out to see if "absence of food will make the stomach growls grow stronger" to the point where he takes the fuzzy. If he doesn't eat the fuzzy after the 3rd week, I'll give him a pinky and keep trying.

It may be that he's also responding to the change in seasons (something another poster said) and only accepting smaller meals at this time, so I'm not too worried. He's just the only one out of 6 that hasn't been a regular eater.

Look at my other response. Try cutting the mouse to get the blood small. Try snake sausages, live if normally fed frozen, or prepped mice. There is even a spray you can buy that makes a mouse smell more tempting. Good luck

1. Figure out is it size or color, as someone else mentioned.
2. If fuzz, brain a mouse pinky on pinky rats, if he likes
them, then try F/T for your convienence.
3. if size, feed a pinky, and as he is finishing hold a dead
hopper or small mouse in front of him. Most snakes finish
head up, and just keep going. Old Old trick to chance snakes
from 1 feed item to another. You can even try to wiggle the
bigger second feed once he has a good hold so he constricts
it. We did this a lot to get old WC stuff off birds to
rodents back in the early 1970's.
