fighting, injury and a distraught momme

proudresmomof4 Jul 23, 2003 08:47 PM

Ok, I have 4 12month-14 month old RES 3 girls 1 male. The 3 girls seem to get along ok, however we have 1 female who seems to be making a habit out of biting and wounding the male's neck. Now obviously she has to go, however we are very upset about it. So my first question is where can I get rid of her in NJ? However the male is starting to act very differently. He spends a very unusual amount og time on the bottom of the tank with his eyes closed. Almost like a depression. Is he ill from the neck wound? we have already spent 150 on vet bills for one of the females and im hoping someone can offer advice on what to do for him to make him more like his old very active and very friendly self

does the male still eat? does he defecate as per normal?
maybe you can take him out sometime and spend time alone with him, obviously supervised. Make sure he's not alone with the cat or dog. Let him know that he could be out and about and feel safe doing so, so he knows he's gonna be safe.

Maybe you can consider buying another tank to house the aggressive female. Sometimes it's not the fault of animals that they're aggressive. They are not like humans and aren't told to stick by a set of societal decorum.
