hello im trying to find and buy some heat tape and other stuff but i dont know which one to go with. can they all be trusted? and which one has least shiping cost? i just want to make sure everything goes smoothely with the right company.

Go to a plumbers section in a hardware store. They have heat tape for pipes which I heard works well.

i dont need heat tape for pipes. that wasnt the question i wanted to know which of the 3 was the best or if there all the same. i cant wire any heat tape by the way.

Just trying to expand your options and ideas!!

I have ordered several things from Matt at MG reptiles and everything went smooth everytime. You can't beat his prices and he will put the connectors on for you for a little more.

well who has better shiping then? that could make this really easy choice. pe says ups ground for 7 dollars but i dont know when it will get here. im guesing 3-5 days.

Not that there is anything wrong with any of those companies but I would go with MG - It seems to me that pro Exotics only sells 3" (I could be wrong but I think I was going to order some flexwatt from them when I picked up my temp gun but they didn't have 12" maybe it was only a temporary thing) if the 3" works for your needs then it's not an issue. Also MG ships priority mail whereas the other two are UPS shippers which is slightly more expensive and takes longer - if you are in a hurry for your heat it could be a problem. Make sure when you place the order that you ask Matt to whire it for you and let him know you are in a hurry!

thanks thats all i wanted to know. the mgreptiles place only accepts paypal. i dont know if that will sit well with my dad but i guess its safer. i dont know any difference between 3 or 11inch heat tape. im not in a hurry for my heat either so i guess i will go with pe.

3 inch is 3 inches wide by whatever amount of feet you order and is 10 watts

11 inch is 11 inches wide by whatever you order and is 20 watts.

well wich is better? im heating home made racks. they are plastic and were used for different things like cards, hats,games or whatever but they are big enough for hatchling snakes. so i think i should get the 11inch right? i could hang it and make back heat for 3 or 4 snakes. i want 11in now.

the 3" Flex Watt we sell is 6 watts per foot, not the 10 watts.

i prefer the 3" over the other sizes, we have always used it for own setups. the 11" we don't sell. i have seen TOO MANY melted cages and busted glass using the 11 inch stuff. that usually happens when folks don't use a thermostat or rheostat, or their thermos go out, and the fact that it is a possibility is disconcerting. i have to consider the safety of our customers, and their animals, even when mistakes are made.

in applications where i want a wider band of heat, i run two 3" strips parallel, spaced apart, and it achieves the heating goal without the butt blasting overheat potential of the 11" stuff.

as for buying your reptile supplies, heating or otherwise, at the local hardware store, perhaps instead consider supporting those that support you. we are working very hard to serve the reptile community and earn your business, thanks.

I agree with Robyn use the 3" and the 6 watt you don't need 10 watts.
When you use the 10 watts you run out of compacity on you thermostat faster big apple sell the herp power proportional thermostat for about $110 it only goes to 300watt 6 watt tape is the best when wiring a rack.

if your snakes are in a 10 or 20 gallon aquarium, you might be better off with the 3 inch tape, i have a 11 inch flexiwat, and it heats my hot spot to abouut 95 degrees, just at the uppermost allowable limiit, in fact i use a thermostat to regulate it, if you put it under a 10 gallon aquarium, you might end up with a couple cooked snakes.
you might be just as well off getting a small zzoomed for 10-20 gallon aquariums,
i got mine for aro 10$ or less each on ebay. and they were in origional wrapping.
in all it might cost you 5-10$ more for shipping.
oh and the suggestion above about going to a plumbing store was because the same heat tape is sold there, but no shipping fees.
it is also used in building construction for doing heated flooring. check your local home depot or building supply store before ordering online.
is your snake still having breathing issues, or did it stop?

Be sure to also get a thermostat for that heat tape and make sure your mom is available. I know that Matt does not like to sell to minors without their parents' permission.

i already bought heat tapes and a thermostat to control it. i didnt buy from matt because it says it will take longer to pre wire the heat tape. im trying to look for some mexican black kings or corns to fill the home made racks. the snake is still making a popping sound but atleast i got all of her skin that did not come off last night off. thank you guys for ansering my questions nicely.
