Feeding question please help

schwartzenstobe Dec 14, 2005 06:21 PM

Hello, everyone Had a Question. I have had my jackson for about a year and he is fed silkies, hornworms, crickets, mealworm, roaches and superworms.Just wondering how much to feed him at time and now that he is a year should I feed him every other day? Today he ate 4 mediuum horn worms and 4 lodster nymphs. Should I split that up to twice a day? He goes for food like he has never eaten before. Thanks Matt

Splitting up his feedings, and giving him smaller amounts per
feeding is much better than letting him "gorge"
on a large volume of insects. If you can split up
his intake over the course of the day that would be great (most people aren't around full time to do this.)
I wouldn't worry about him eating too much at one year, he's still got some growing to do. I would get a gram scale though, and weigh him periodically so you can see how much weight he's gaining (or loosing)and keep a journal.
As they mature, their weight gradually slows down and becomes pretty stable. You can then switch to the maintenance feeding of every other day, or just feeding enough to keep them at their healthy weight.
