Hopefully this will be the year, but if not, there's always next year. Be nice to add some Canadian cbb Anacondas to the gene pool. Thanks, Ron.

How big is your anaconda? Just wondering.
Good luck with getting babies

Ren is around 12-13 feet. A little small still, but we'll see! I think it is more that my male is too small. He is only around 7 feet but around 4 years old.
Kelly, I don't use any artificial light. I think our naturally shortening days in Toronto work perfect for cycling. I did drop the temps by 5 degrees starting about a month ago. Thank you, Ron.

Female greens of at least 11 or 12 feet and 5 years or older will have the size and age to produce young if they have good body weight. Males over 6 feet with 3 years or more on them would be ready to produce as well. I have a male which is larger and older now, but he was producing sperm plugs at 8 feet and 2.5 years of age. Thanks Ron, and let us know if you get any breeding activity.

What is the relationship between ovulation and weight gain? Will her weight go up and then if not fertile, the weight will start to drop again? My female gained 2 pounds since Sunday. This is not feed related, as I have not fed her for about a month. Thank you, Ron.

.
Ron,
The only way she could have increased in weight without feeding would be by fluid intake. The swelling of ovulation in snakes, and later being gravid, causes what appears to be an apparent weight gain in the female. This itself will not directly cause a weight gain as the development of the ova or young is only really a re-distribution of the snakes existing body mass, plus a little extra water needed for the new ova or neonate tissue. That extra water is what will cause a slight weight gain initially. Later, as the pregnancy progresses and the female is not feeding, there is actually a loss in weight even though the female is swelling larger. Getting back to your female, you ask a very good question. Two pounds in weight is actually about a quart of water. It is possible that the extra weight could be caused by ova development but it is difficult to say, and I have never read anything covering those types of measurements. I will do a little more digging and see if I can come up with something a little more definitive. One question I would have is has she ingested a fair amount of water over the last few days?
Kelly
She weighs 48 pounds, just a featherweight right now.
Kelly, she has not been drinking more than usual. I don't think she drank 2 pounds of water in 4 days, but she might have. Ron.

What type of scale are you weighing her on? Going by the photo of her and a length of 12 feet, I would have expected her to weigh considerably more than 48 lbs. Just curious.
Kelly
I use a digital bathroom scale. Weigh myself holding snake, then weigh myself and subtract. That's why I said she is still a feather weight. Ron.

That could explain some of the differences in weight issues as these type of scales are not overly accurate and could easily vary by a pound or two from day to day.
