Hello,
does anyone have a pic of their adult or sub-adult tegu? Mine is just a baby and he is beautiful now, I can only imagine when he gets older
Also, can you tell me how to post pics with a post?

Here are pics of my little guy. This is the only time he has bitten, but he did not let go for 15 minutes.

Wow he is beautiful! I don't think many people have Gold tegus on this forum, mostly the black and whites, reds, and blues. Mine looked gold when I got him but he is black and white. They have such powerful jaws don't they? Mine bit me once but let go immediately.

Luckily that is not my finger in the picture, its my boyfriend's and he was asking for it. You can see in one of the pics, it actually drew blood. The worst part was the infection the next day because he did not clean the would out thinking it was small and not realizing the bacteria in the tegu's mouth.

Well, if black and whites look gold when young, how do I know I really got a golden tegu? The person at the reptile show said "golden tegu", he looks golden, but being my first tegu, I would not know.

Your guy is defenitly a gold tegu. I have had a couple over the yars.takecare russ
you don't want to let him bite you when he's bigger ... I was bitten by my 44" male B&W two weeks ago ..... fortunately he caught just the edge of my finger .... learnt a lesson !!!!!

I don't want him to bite me now! Fortunately it is not my finger, but my boyfriend's. He pestered the tegu until he bit, just to see how hard he'd bite. Needless to say, he will not be doing that again.
Thanks

you may have some difficulty taming any reptile if your going to pester it and see how hard it bites, let alone a colombian tegu, they are hard enough to gain trust and become comfortable around you without pestering it, be careful with him, he may be cute and not to do too much damage now but that will change when he is about 4-5 times larger
thanks

I totally agree. My boyfriend just had to know, did it the once and now he knows better. We have thought about the future bites. It might be why the Tegu likes me better. I seem to be the one that does the taming. My boyfriend prefers to only handle things after they are calm.
