What kind is this one? Head not shown on purpose just to see if someone can identify it from the body color.

My guess is one of the Pseustes. Possibly P. sulphureus.

Well it's a Pseustes but a different species than sulphureus.

He doesnt look to good. Is it just because of the importing of him and lack of water, or is there something wrong with him?

As I said above, they have a keel backed appearance, therefore it is normal for them to look somewhat skinny and/or starved. I've kept them before and could not fatten them as they only grew longer and meaner. This particular specimen was indeed dehydrated as it drank for several minutes before the photo was taken, but otherwise it looks like a normal healthy specimen. Oh, and its a Chironius exoletus.

Pseustes poecilonotus

month it touched nothing food wise. A month later I dangled a fuzzy on forceps in its face and it turned into an animal and swallowed it whole and then contined to eat a couple more and is now getting into better shape.

You have some very cool snakes, where do you get them from?

Oxyrhopus Dec 19, 2005 02:45 PM

Reptile pet stores, wholesalers, breeders, friends, importers.

You have any dealers you can recommend for some of the harder to find rear-fanged?

Oxyrhopus Dec 21, 2005 12:29 AM

No particular place or person as all of this stuff comes from numerous dealers and even private individuals who import to sell at shows on weekends. I would just keep in contact with several of the importers and large reptile dealers for their availability lists.
