Hi Folks;

Had my little guy for going on 2 weeks now & he hasn't eaten. Water temps ar 84-ish, he's quite active & still pretty fat but am getting kinda antsy for him to eat. I know he's establish becuase i've fed myself in his former residence. Soooo do these guys tend to need an adjustment period?? I'm offering juvenille mice every other day, I usually thaw out 3 in case he grabs 1 then I'll stuff him. So needless to say my Indigos (all other colubrids are hibernating) are getting LOTS of hors d herve sized snacks.

Any suggestions?????

Told ya I'd be posting lotsa ???'s

Dean

i dont know about p palpedrosus, but i've gad gators not eat for much longer than 2 weeks, esp. during the winter period, and they were fine.

I am having the same problem with my dwarf caiman. He is about 16 inches in length. He hasn't taken a single eating for about two weeks now. I offered pinky mice, fish and tadpoles and he would not eat any. He did have a huge meal right before he went into this festing period. His stomach is becoming a bit too hollow now and it bothers me as much as it would bother anyone else. To my knowledge, most crocs and gators go into this mode during colder days, or so I heard. Just wanted to let you know that you are not alone out there. I will try to keep on offering him food and hope fo rthe best.

Good luck

I've had my spectacled for nearly 10 years, and as far back as I can remember the eatings habits have been very inconsistant.

It seems to cycle from not recognizing food (and I think I am doing something terribly wrong), to practicaly jumping at me because I'm not handing the food quick enough.

This year i've finally started to document my feedings hoping to start recognizing a pattern.

Best of luck,

Rob
