my rainbow boas have never been bred before this year. the havent been kept on any sort of cycle until i got them this summer. well i cycled them pretty early, i dropped my temps alot in october through november, nightime temps dipping a few times to 69 degrees, warming up to about 76 in the day (with a warm spot). i fed them throughout this time, and they continued to eat and deficate regularyly. we'll i warmed em up last wed, and i put them together 2 days ago. since then, to my knowledge, they have been locked up for about 35 hours. they are sitting coiled, hemipenis is visibly inseted etc etc. tail is aligned. i saw one sperm plug on the hide, and one stuck to the female. they may have disconnected at one point, but at my calculation they have been going at it pretyt much non stop for a day and a half.

should i expect them to stop and start a few times?

thanks

jlogan,
...Yes, definitely expect them to stop and then to breed again. Mine usually breed on and off for several weeks. If they stop for more than a couple days you may want to seperate them and reintroduce them if one of them sheds or the weather changes. Passages of cold fronts and rainy weather often get mine to start or restart mating. I think the more they breed the better the chances of getting babies.
Good luck,
Jeff
