Hey all, just wanted to bring this topic out for discussion as I noticed a few similarities in some posts and drew a few conclusions.
First off I saw this post from Jared Horenstein:
Post Title: "The Mocha Ball Python"
http://forums.kingsnake.com/view.php?id=953658,953658
"HEre is a new project I dont think we have shown before......I got a weird baby in 99 that had some different looks to her......Well she proved to be a dominant mutation in 2004 and again in 2005 she made some more spceial babies.........on top of a wicked combo....... "
Then several days later saw this by him as well:
Post Title: "Let's see..........I produced 2 already....1 in 04, 1 in 05 ......"
http://forums.kingsnake.com/view.php?id=957965,958617
"Both were produced from unrelated yellowbelly males.......to the same mother..........if that does not show you its a genetic combination......I am not sure what will.......
and no.........no pics of mom floating around..........sorry. "
Now lets state some facts with regards both the "Mocha" and "Super Stripe" Projects:
"Mocha" Project:
1) Aberrant female acquired by Jared Horenstein in 1999.
2) Proven to be Dominant in 2004, and again in 2005.
3) Has been used to create a "Wicked" combo by J.H.
"Super Stripe" Project:
1) Yellowbelly X abberrant Female = Superstripe
2) "Proven" in 2004, and again in 2005, both from different "Yellowbelly" fathers bred to same aberrant female
3) Pics of "Aberrant Mom" have never been shown/circulated
Ok, now I don't know about you guys, but seems pretty fishy to me.
Similarities between the two projects:
1) Both involve an "aberrant" female.
2) Both were proven in both 2004, and in 2005
3) "Superstripe" is a wicked combo, while the "Mocha" necessary for one of Jared's "Wicked" combos.
Now at this point, I'm heavily leaning towards the "Mocha" being the morph that along with the yellowbelly is a key ingredient in the "Super Stripe", there are just way to many similarities here to be otherwise, as well as the fact that as often as Jared posts on the boards, we had heard nothing
on the "Mocha" until now, even though it was proved originally in '04.
I could be really wrong here, anything is possible, but I think I'm hitting the nail right on the head here.
Let me know what you guys think, and Jared if you want to clear this up I'm sure we'd love to hear about the projects you got going on over there!
Thanks for looking,
Dan
