Strange lumps on my beardie

nigelo Dec 16, 2005 07:18 AM

My 4 year old male beardie has develped some strange lumps..2 close together on his back (above front right leg)about the size of small peas, just under the skin. The other lump is about the size of an almond and is under the skin on his abdomen (his right hand side)He is perfectly happy (or so it seems) and is eating, mating, running around etc, etc...Anybody else seen anything like this??...this is from England so he's not had anything nasty bite him!!

Hard to say what the lumps are but two things come to mind. They could be absesses or growths (either benign or cancerous). In either case, it would be best to take your bearded dragon to a reptile vet. Once they check him over they can determine (either by feeling the lumps or x-rays or some other method) if it's just an absess or something else. The stomach one could be other things, swollen organs, blockage or something else. The one of the shoulder sounds more like abcesses though I can't say for sure, it's not something you can tell easily from a description or even a picture.

A vet is your best bet.

Thanks for your response...I've had him to the Vet and he's not sure either what they could be so he intends doing a biopsy of one of the small ones on his back, but that's not to say that they are all linked!....If the lump in his abdomen was a blockage I imagine he wouldn't eat or move about as normal, but he does, as if nothing is wrong at all!! Hopefully what is there, is benign...I'll let the forum know of any results when I get them as this does seem rather unusual.
