Pac Man Frog Help

eabiggs Dec 16, 2005 07:21 AM

i just recently purchased a Pac Man frog and i just love him. He has his 10 gallon tank with his water and substrate he can burrow under, his plants to hide under. It's humid and very clean. My question is, yesterday he ate two crickets and two large meal worms then burrowed under the substrate, he hasn't come out since. i'm worried since he's a baby, will he be ok?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

as long as it is humid enough and warm enough he sounds like a happy pacman. what type of substrate exactly? any lighting/heating? what are the temps in the warm end and in the cool end?

The substrate is called Eco Earth by Zoo Med. The thermometer says it's about 74 degrees and it's very humid in there. There is alot of condensation on the sides of the aquarium. He's only been buried up since yesterday and i can see the top of his head, but just bearly.

I tried the UVB light, but it didn't seem like he liked it very much. He would hide when i turned it on. So i use the vitamin supplements when i feed him his insects. I have a heating pad under the aquarium so it will stay warm and humid.

sounds good. they usually burrow in order to avoid predators and prevent their prey from seeing them before they can get a good attack on them. everything sounds good. do you know how warm it is on the heat pad? is he on the heat pad area, or on a different part of the tank?

I have the heating pad under a part of a towel, but have one end uncovered for ventilation (don't want a fire), but... it's set on medium and he's burrowed at the heating pad part next to his water bowl under the plants. I'm just worried, i don't want him to starve.

I really appreciate all your help.
