When I first received my Leucistic, he was practically all "pink". He is getting whiter and whiter with each shed.

Mine is mostly white but has a pink splotch on top of his head...and the end of his tail has a pinkish hue. I've been told that this all fades and they grow whiter with age...and this makes sense since all of the adults I have seen are always bright white.

LOL. Don't worry! We've both seen pics of RIN's Leucistic Texas Rat, so we KNOW they'll get bigger and prettier (handsomer in Mac's case).

MacLeod's been with me since the first part of October, so I'd guess he is about 4/5 months old at the most. He's grown a bit since I got him (about 7 inches in 2 months - total about 19 inches long now) and he's about a dime around at his widest point. He's eating small fuzzies now about every 7-8 days(when I can get him to EAT the fuzzies -- he'd prefer pinkies) and, he is getting whiter and tamer with each passing shed period. He too has the "Pink" portions on the top of his head but its getting smaller as well.

Mmmm....that pic of that ratsnake......so beautiful. I saved it to my computer and when people see my Worm, I then show them that pic...hahahahahaha.

I knew your's was fairly young...I was just trying to gage how quickly they grow I suppose. I'm building a special custom tank for my corn, who is currently in a generic 30 gallon....and once her current tank is empty, that is where Worm will live when he outgrow's his 10 gallon (of course, he'll someday have a custom tank too...don't want him getting jealous!)...just always trying to figure out how much time I have to build Pumpkins tank. Hehehe. If only we were normal, and didn't have to theme out our snake tank a la indian johns style. This is what happens when scenic artists get pets....LOL.

LOL, JennRose! Having seen some of your work from your website, I'm sure that the enclosures you build for Wyrm (I'm still using THAT spelling for him since he and Mac will really be DRAGONS one day) and Pumpkin will be AMAZING. Do you have any specific plans written out for building your enclosures and are you willing to share? I'm not a carpenter by any stretch, but some kind of plans would go a long way to helping me as I try to plan for my snakes.

Oh, I've also had Wyrm's pic on my Desktop as well!

Once I figure out the technical end, I'll TOTALLY share. Right now we've got the asthetics worked out (The tank will look like it's being held together with bamboo, while the stand will look like a huge chunk of carved stone, with Naga carved into it (the indian snake god).

Worm is actually sitting on my shoulder just hanging out while I type this. Either he's the world's most chill snake...or he's retarded. HAHAHAHA.

Post some pics when you get it done. I would like to see what a "Hollywood FX" cage looks like.

Later Jason

jennrosefx Dec 17, 2005 10:48 PM

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. You better believe I'm gonna post some pics! :D Of course, it seems that the second we say we're going to start on it, we get called on to gigs...it's a CURSE!!!!! But, we have until Worm outgrows his cage to build it...so there's a bit of time there. :P

It's funny, that's how it was finally agreed that I could get my snakes....he said I can get the snakes, if he could design tanks for them! Sounds fair to me!!! LOL

We know...and much like any other pinkish areas, I would have to think that those cute cheeks will whiten up as well. But, until then, get lots of pics of it...cause that's super cute. It looks like it has makeup on!

Indeed she is! I've been going through "gentlemen" classes with MacLeod so that he can be a good catch for young ladies like that. LOL.

I've looked at some pics of some adult ones that have "black eyes" now and I've seen some that have retained hints of blue on the "iris" parts of the eye.

I haven't seen the blue "skin" above the eyes in the larger snakes (even the one I saw at a local reptile store). I'm fairly certain (as I look over Mac right now), that the bluish tint of the skin above the eyes is the eyeball showing through the skin. As they get larger and the bones get thicker, I'm fairly certain that that coloration will disappear.

Don't have a full grown snake yet, so I can't tell you for certain! How about in a couple of years??? LOL.

Think of it this way. As a hatchling, everything on them is TINY and THIN. You can see through their skin...hold her up to the light! GUTS! But, as they get older, things thicken up and that goes away.

Allthough, I gotta say...on yer girl it TOTALLY looks like she has blush and eyeshadow on....that's gotta be the cutest thing I've ever seen!!!
