humidity tips?

banjomcgraw Dec 16, 2005 05:05 PM

My apartment gets very dry in the winter and try as I might I can't seem to keep the humidity in my bp's cage above 45%. I have a humidifier going full blast right next to her cage 24/7, I keep a large water dish and moss-filled hide in the cage, and I mist it down several times a day. The humidity would be much lower if I didn't do these things (like around 30%--damn steam heat), but I know it's still too low.

Any tips? If commercial reptile tank humidifiers are the best solution, any recommendations of brands/models? (The cage is 20 gallons long...she's a young 'un.)

Try putting a wet towel over half of the screened top and see if that raises the humidity.
