Is a blood python the right snake for me?

Cl0wn Dec 16, 2005 08:38 PM

Well I am really starting to want medium-larger pythons but nothing like the big boys (anacondas, burms, rocks etc). Ive kept balls, rosy boas, colubrids and other snakes so I want to up my level you might say. I really like bloods because they are fat but not long. What are the caging requirements and who has the best normals? Are they hard to care for? mean? Thanks for reading, sorry if this is always asked.

Yes, the questions you have posed have been asked and answered in this forun is some detail. Further info can be gleaned from a number of sites; VPI, NERD,etc. Many Forum regulars are experts/breeders and will prove helpful as you move to aquire a Blood(s). In sum however, Bloods are hardy, undemanding and a joy to keep. Temperment is not a major problem, especially if you choose quality, captive bred stock. There are three species of "Bloods" which can make the choice interesting, however. In any case, you do get the "big snake" experince in a more manageable package. With your knowledge, the move to Blood Pythons should pose only enjoyable challenges. Welcome!
