Typhlonectes sp. - the Aquatic Caecilian

These are sold in pet stores as Rubber Eels or even "Sicilians". Most stores have no idea what they are. I kept a couple for several years in a ten gallon aquarium. They will eat fish food, but they REALLY love earthworms!

Apparently you can get them to breed in captivity, although I have never done it. Neat beasts, IMHO.

Really interesting animal. Don't think I've seen one before. Were you holding the flash above the subject, or did you just use the aquarium lights?
