reptinum123 Dec 17, 2005 12:54 PM

Now that I have your attention, no I am not putting a tegu and a boa in the same cage together. I do have some questions tho. I've heard melanum is no good b/c of the high humidity. what kind of plywood thickness and type should i use. i hear to use water based polyeurothane, wat kind. the front of the tegu cage is going have two swinging doors like a cupboard and the boa's stuff is going to have sliding. plexi or glass for these applications. What type of sealant, silicon or caulk.

ok let me explain this work of contemporary art i have made from microsoft "paint." I am a senior in high school with a tegu (presumed male) just under 2 ft. in a 55 gallon. For my b-day/x-mas gift my mom is going to fund this little project of mine. It is split into 3 sections so it can be moved for when i finally get out of the house. the left side is a 2'x 4'x 4' section that i will most likely put the water. I'm not filling up the whole thing, im just going to have a rubbermaid or something there. If seperated i would like it if the 2'x 4'x 4' could have a sliding glass door on the face of it, the thick black bar is the panel thing to keep the two pieces of glass or plexi together. The bottom foot around the whole thing will be wooden with a foot of dirt. the center 4' cube will have the two doors that will each be 2'x3' opening with plexi or glass. the right section will also be 2'x 4'x 4' and the bottom 2'x 4'x 1' will connect so that my tegu can hide out in there. The other 3 cages will be for my snow boa project that i hopefully eventually will have. they will have heat tape under each of them with a thermostat. Wat is the wattage i will need to have the heat go through the plywood without a fire. This will be in my garage in central florida. I will have thick branches and maybe shelving to utulize the height on the 2 left sections and heat lamps and uv lights, but those are hard to "paint." If you're still reading this, i thank u. and i thank u all in advance for replying.

If your saying that your tegu is going into a 4x4 area. you will be building another cage sooner than you want. you way as well just save the money and build a 8x4 you can build it for unde 200 if you shop smart. then make a boa enclsure to fit on the top with adequite support

No, he is going to have an 8'x 4' x 4' foot print to roam around, it is just split into sections for easier dismantlement and transportation.
