Rheostat question

phiber_optikx Dec 17, 2005 03:09 PM

I was just wondering, If I get a rheostat can I plug it directly into the wall and plug my 6 outlet power strip into the rheostat? That way I would only have to buy one instead of 6....

That depends on the output of your heating elements,be careful not to overload your temp control,I have 4 hooked up to each temp controller and it does fine,Terry VNV 70-71

Be careful because that would be a huge fire hazard if not done properly. You would have to know the exact wattage your rheostat can take then figure out how much wattage each of your cords that your plugging into the power outlet would be. Personally I would just get a cheap dimmer switch for each of them instead of buying 6 rheostats.

It would control everything on the power strip. It acts like a dimmer switch.

How about buying a decent thermostat to regulate your heat sources and not ahve to worry about fire, overheating and dead animals... Just a thought...
