burms in same cage

anthonyf78 Dec 17, 2005 03:13 PM

i have a 10 ft burm and a 5 ft albino burm. they are in separate cages but im ready to put the female albino in with the male. theyve crawled around together a few times with no problems. does anyone think its too soon to put her in with a snake twice her size?

I personally wouldnt because there is such a size difference between the two. The smaller one could very well be intimidated due to the size of the other burm. It might refuse to eat as a result.

If the five footer is the female, I'd say it's too soon anyhow. She's not big enough to breed yet. I appologise if I'm mistaken.

I would like to know what purpose you have of putting the snakes together. Is it for breeding. If so even if the 5 footer is a male that is more then likely still too small. I would not try and breed a male until he was closer to 8' and think it is best to wait until the females are a little over 10 foot. If you are not planning on breeding them then definitely not. there is no reason to house snakes together unless for breeding. So some more insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Todd
