With the proliferation of home-use crosscut shredders, does anybody use shred as a substrate for their snakes? I use newspaper, but I was thinking that shred would be easy to grab and dispose of, then put more in. Also, the snake could burrow in it...

Yes that would be a very good substrate, easy pick up without having to replace the whole sheet of paper, very cheap I would say. I would use it but then again I dont have a shredder.
