worried about my gravid veiled

mchiara Dec 17, 2005 05:35 PM

Hi,
my veiled is now gravid. Since I moved her in a new cage for laying eggs when ready, she lost her gravid coloration (as I would expect, since she no longer can see the male) but instead of getting her usual light pea green color she turned into olive green/brownish on the top plus legs and mostly green on the belly. I gave her the same condition she had in her original cage, but I wonder if that color is still normal.
Can anyone help?

Thank you

here is a pic, even of is not the best picture it is possible to see some of her coloration. Is this color fine?

it is very similar to the coloration that one of my gravid females is showing. I had one gravid female about 2 months ago who kept her colors through my latest one shows her colors occasionally but usually has her warning colors, or some darker variation.

Thank you, I somewhat feel better about that. My female lost those color (warning) as soon as I moved her out of the male cage. She now shows darker color, sometimes all dark that I can't even see her markings, and other times she is back to green with dark spots (the same spots that are yellow when she has the "warning" color).

I just posted another message about chin/neck edema. Did any of your female developped edema anywhere in their body while there were gravid?
