Keeping Jungles Together

steffenssnakes Dec 17, 2005 11:14 PM

hi
I have a 7 foot female jungle carpet. Just wondering if I get a male can I keep them in the same cage all year around for breeding. Thanks
Steffen

I do, with great results. The only time I separate is when the female is noticably gravid, then I take the male out and don't put him back with her until she has laid, and eaten well to regain her weight. You also need a large enough enclosure for 2 adult jungles to minimize stress. It is also a little more tricky to feed them when they are housed together (at least with live prey).

I don't keep any of my carpets together, long term. One can become dominant, affect the feeding of the other. I will leave them together for a couple days this time of year, but it seems they won't re-mate until they've been separated for awhile. JMHO
