I was just curious of the average time from breeding to egg laying. I have seen eggs as soon as 4 months, and had females wait up to 6 months to show the goods. Personal experiance from other breeders would be helpful.

And everything in between.......

I think the point is that it varies a lot and of course lots of breedings (especially out of season) don't result in anything. Sorry, but I really don't think there is a set answer for your question. But best of luck!

There really isn't a set answer to the question you asked. Now if you ask how long after ovulation you should expect eggs the answer is that you should expect a pre-lay shed approx. 30 days after ovulation (although i've had it be less) and eggs 30 days after the pre-lay shed.

*Sigh*..... The point is, its a MINIMUM of 60 days to get eggs (actually 52 or so is the shortest I've seen (24 days for prelay after ovulation and 28 days after pre-lay for laying).

But it may never happen. I have had 3 "ovulation/yolking ups" from a single female one year and never received an egg.

So there's your ACTUAL answer. Makes you wonder why people even bother with the forums anymore with the ungrateful people that abound in them....

Realvenum's question appeared to me like he just was looking for other breeders experience with average time frame of dropping eggs. He wasnt looking for a smart mouth comment treating him like a newbie in the industry.

It is truely a wonder why people bother asking questions on the internet when they are chastized by people with inflated heads when they were only looking for input from other breeders, not a lecture on ball python breeding.

I find it funny that you have had females ovulate and never received eggs(fertile or infertile) because ovolution means that eggs are coming one way or another.

So please keep your "clueless" comments to yourself and be helpful on forums rather then a troll looking for a fight.

By admitting that not all my female Balls do the breed - follicle-building - ovulate - 22-28 days later shed - 25-35 days later lay eggs?? If I was indeed egotistical, I wouldn't be admitting such lame things that have happened over the decade at my facility. No way.
Point is, everything under the sun has happened here and will continue to happen. Don't worry about what other people's animals are doing. It doesn't matter. Worry about your own animals, because they are the only thing you can control.

Thanks for complaining though and contributing EXACTLY NOTHING to this discussion. I mean, disagree with what I said, that's cool. But whine and complain because you don't like the delivery? Grow up. I could care less about ball pythons, but I do read the forums from time to time. And guess what I call things how I see them. If you dont like that it is fine with me. If you dont like me, that is fine with me. I would never have to do business with you, and I know that you would never get real snakes and have to do business with me. So hate me all you want I could careless.

If you dont see your head as inflated that is fine with me, but people with large heads dont usually tend to see themselves in that manner.....

Please clarify. What is a "real" snake? I thought I had a bunch of those already.

And are you sure you don't need a tissue? Perhaps a panty untangler? Seeing as they're in a knot and all.

Thanks for the Olympic-sized inference. Quite flattering. But I have no idea why people take these forums so seriously and make things personal. If you have to get stuff off your chest, why not make it Ball Python information (seeing as this is the BALL PYTHON forum) and save everyone the grief of reading your tripe?

Noone said they had to like you, LOL I think this is quite childish, and I am probably significantly younger than you both, Jeff I totally see your point, I would just drop it, obviously there LOST, they don't like Ball Pythons and think there not "real" snakes, so they should turn around and run back home to whichever species it is that is a "real" snake and leave the BPs to us. and If they don't like BPs why did they try to reply in the first place, I don't like boas, so I DON'T TALK ON THE BOA FORUMS! ANd I most certainly don't talk junk about what everyone in the forum OBVIOUSLY loves or they would not be here. They are like a black man walking into a KKK meeting!
