Another housing question

hotback66 May 18, 2003 06:12 PM

I just got a high yellow sub-adult female and a hatchling patternless yesterday. I have them in seperate quarantines right now, but I was wondering if I can put the sub-adult in with my two other geckos. I have a male jungle tangerine and a tremper albino. They are in a large Rubbermaid container, roughly 32" by 15". The tang and the albino are about two months old and weigh 18-20 grams. My new female weighs about 34-36 grams. Here is a comparision picture of them. Is it okay to house them together in a week or two?? Or would it be better to wait until the hatchling patternless is about a month old and house it with the albino and tang? I really don't want to have more than two cages right now, at least until I get a rack system! Thanks and take it easy
Jason

First off, if you dont know the sexes of the juvie, never house it with another gecko, especially a male. If they are significantly different sizes I would not house them together. Geckos seem to bully other geckos as far as food goes, and smaller geckos feel intimidated and get stressed out. I would just use some rubbermaids until you get your rack system.

I do know the sexes of all of my geckos. Only the tang is a male, and I know all about males fighting. I was only wondering if the size difference was too much. There is about a 10-15 gram difference between them. I am not worried about the larger one eating the other ones, because my juvies are not that small (see picture). I guess I will just keep them seperate for a while. Thanks
