prairie ringneck just got 3 today

xblackheart Dec 18, 2005 05:56 PM

Is there anyone out there with experience with these snakes. I just got 3 of these little guys, and I do mean little. At this size, what in the world can I feed them. I tried to read up on them, but wanted some experienced help. I read they eat other snakes. Will they eat each other? I also read they are poisoness. Are they rear fanged poisoness like hognoses, water cobras? I have corns, kings, others but I am unfamiliar with these little guys. Any help would be much appreciated.

Only certain localities of prairie ringnecks will eat snakes... And they won't eat each other.

You most likely have the highest amount of luck offering them salamanders. Some will take worms.

Many species of ringneck snakes produce a toxic saliva, the farther you go to the west coast the more potent the saliva gets. The Regal i believe has the most potent and the venom is more potent then the coral snakes i think. They cannot harm a human though. Mike (herperhelmz)knows much more on this then i do. Just my opinion

Why would you take, under your care, snake you don't know anything about?
