Just thought I'd show off a bit. My young female dropped a bunch of these recently. I hope you like them.

Doug,

Your juvenille looks amazing. That boa is at the top of my wish list for the high end breeds. So keep up the good work, because hopefully someday I will be able to enjoy keeping them.

Again Congrats
Erin

HI Doug,
Quick question - did your female eat at all during her pregnancy? Mine is very gravid and hasn't touched anything. Just curious,
Jeff

Hey Jeff,

Steve Hammack here.

Just wanted to answer your question on the feeding.

It is about 50% either way. About half of the time the females will continue to take small meals most of the way through their gestation. Other times, the females will go off feed once they become dark and start their basking.

Either way, I hope that you have good luck with yours.

I forgot to answer his question on the forum. Thanks for picking up the slack.

For anyone following the thread, if I suspect a female is gravid, I don't feed them. I prefer to feed heavier when they aren't gravid. Like Steve (who probably knows these guys better than anyone) says, they might accept small meals while gravid.

I've still got one more gravid female who has been off feed since... I think last October is when I fed her last. I didn't expect her to become gravid, but she started darkening and soaking and doing all that stuff gravid snakes do. Once she drops her babies, I'll be giving her rabbits every couple weeks to make it up to her.

I also am amazed at the variation in gestation time. My other female dropped her babies June 29. This one is 2 months behind almost. Consider that they are kept in almost identical conditions and you see why I'm amazed.

Doug
