A simple trap is to tie a freshly killed fish on a fishing line string, attach one end to a tree or stake, and leave the fish in the water at the edge of the shore. The snake will eat the fish but will not be able get far, as long as there is cover nearby he will not try to reguritate it. Its helpful to leave a hiding box close by if no cover is available, also be careful that the snake will not be able to go far in to the water were the line could become entangled and drown the snake. Once you have retreived the snake just cut the line and it will pass harmlessly through his digestive track. For those that think this is cruel, get over it, any kind of trap has some cruelty to it. This one is fairly safe for the snake if done right. Also works for other snakes, just do mice instead of fish and change the location appropriately.

Yes, the box type traps with a funnel opening work wonders. Just put the trap at the waters edge with the opening slightly above water, they move in can't get out. Simple
