keeping american alligator with a dwarf caiman?

artogator Dec 18, 2005 10:09 PM

I have a 13" american alligator. I'm thinking about getting a dwarf caiman from a local pet store on a trade. It is the same size as my alligator. i'm wondering if it is a bad idea to keep them together (probably a stupid question, but oh well). also considring adding a turtle. any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

American alligators are social animals, dwarf caimans are solitary animals. For the psycological health of the caiman, I would keep it by itself, as it would be in the wild.

I agree with the first reply. In reply to the turtle question turtles will often eat toes and parts of the tale from a crocodilian. Keeping these animales apart would be best.
