I have my adult corn in a 3x2x2 homemade cage with a 150watt ceramic heat bulb(on a thermostat)..The cage gets very dry and Ive never seen the snake use the hides on the warm side the hides are only 77degrees and the basking in the branches is 88.Higher up it gets to 91.The cool side is 70-73..Even after she's eaten she doesnt use the warm side...I cant use a UTH because of the thick wood used for the bottom(the cage was pieced together with scraps and shelfboard).Unless I can come up with a way to use a UTH inside under the cypress substrate..Are temps okay the way they are? Ive not seen any problems its just this particular setup bothers me, it just doesnt seem right and I do hate using overhead heat...

here is how you can use a uth in the enclosure. get a ceramic tile, you can get them at home depot for about 1.50$
secure the uth to the ceramic tile and put the tile in the enclosure under the substrate, i actually use this even in my glass enclosures.... that method makes them "mobile"

bottom of the cage, then you don't have to worry about waterproofing.

he said that he uses thick wood for the flooring of the cage. therefore putting it under the cage would provide insufiecient heat.
