Speaking in generalities...

...which ssp of the blood/shorttails have the better temperments? I would like to get a blood/shorttail but would like to increase my chances of a mild mannered snake. Not a stranger to snakes and have kept boas and pythons before. Again, I know not guarantee on temperment but "in general" which ssp tends to have the better tempements?

Thanks in advance,
Miller

Hey,
Generally speaking the Sumatran short-tails, have the best attitudes and are easily handled. They are very personable and even seem to greet with warm smiles. LOL! kidding of course, but mine seem to relish a visit to the cage. Don't know what that's about. At any rate, they are for me at least, wonderful to work with and probably the easiest to work with in that regard.

My baby black blood (P.curtus) is as tame as anything. Hasn't hissed, striked, nothing. You'd think he was a ball python baby. The breeder I got him from said that all the babies from the clutch were like that.

My red bloods (P. brongersmai) on the other hand... are not evil monsters but don't enjoy handling. Probably due to the fact that since they are bulky and awkward for me to hold, they don't feel secure. If on a couch or bed, they're ok. Definitely not the kind that will wrap around you like a tree and hang out.

I know there are some people out there with dog-tame red bloods, and I envy them.
