Ball Python/GTP mix ???

reps-r-us Dec 20, 2005 01:38 PM

Haha...not really

BUT, the other night we were watching Animal Planet on the big Screen TV when I turned around and saw one of the Babys hanging out and watching...

Her cage is directly across the TV..I thought it was funny and snapped a couple pics. The pic quality isn't the best, the room was dark, and the pics were made with a external flash.

I don't know why some reptile enthusiast deem the Ball PYthon a boring snake. I think they are anything but. I own 3 and they are housed in 4 foot neodeshas (each) and they are often out and about, aren't shy at all, don't stress, and have great appetites.

They utilize their entire space, often switching between hides, hanging out on branches (even the 5 year old adults will do that) being fairly active for "Ball Pythons".

Again, the temps and humidity is perfect and they never skip a meal, not even with regular handling and sometimes going along to schools for educational presentations. So "bad husbandry" is certainly not the reason for their activity and inquisitive nature.

I think they are delightful snakes and wish more people would concentrate on that aspect of them, rather then mutations and $$ signs.

But to each their own

ps. I know she wasn't really "watching" TV, but it sure was funny to see her in that position, directly across from it...

" I own 3 and they are housed in 4 foot neodeshas "
what is a neodeshas and how much do they cost?

Neodesha is a type of snake cage. Sadly the company doesn't exist anymore.

IMHO they made the best snake enclosures. Easy to maintain the correct temp/humidity , easy to clean, and the slant front makes for an awesome "display" cage.

I was lucky enough to order 3 of the 4 foot slant front Neodeshas with a rack to hold them, before the company closed down.

I much prefer the Neodeshas to the anything else out there...

Here is a old pic where you can see one of the racks of Neo's in the background...also 4 footers...

you said that neodesha quit making them, but i sill se them forsale in petshops out here, they are still available, but come with a big pricetag, they go for 300$ tax canadian in petshops.
i recently got one, and i really do prefer it, it is great at keeping humidity high.
i dont need to mist it half as often as my 70 gallon aquariums that have the same ground space.
and i like the design, it makes racking systems much easyer to set up.

if i am not mistaken, hagen(living world) bought the pattent, they sre sold in the nature pet centers here, which only sell hagen products.
hagen probably bought out the pattent, or when it ran out, made their own and flooded the market so the sales were no longer profitable.
if you really want to get more neos, or at least the same design, search for nature pet centers, and check out for their online store, or call reptile amazone here in montreal canada and see if they can ship some to you. i know they have at least 2 in store for sale.
