I have been told sphagnum moss will help raise humidity in the snakes cage. What does sphagnum moss look like?
The reason I ask is I went to the store to get some and it just looked like potting soil.
The kind that I get looks like small pieces of green yarn. In this picture, my python is sitting on a piece of moss.

It's not how many snakes you have. It's how happy and healthy you can keep them.
Spaghnum moss is fluffy. It won't raise humidity though, only water can do that. Spaghnum also has lots of warnings on the bag, I don't think it is a good idea. Just spray what ever substrate you are using.

I have been spraying it down. The problem is after about an hour it's already back down to only 40%
use sphagnum.........it's not rotted down as with peat....
you don't spray it you wet it.either dumping water on by the cupful or soaking it and wringing it out
it has to be in a box with a lid and a hole for snake to hold in the moisture ......it makes a "moist hide" for them....

what you saw is short grain or regular Sphagnum, but you want the long grain Sphagnum Moss : )
you can see long grain Sphagnum on the right side of this picture from our site (we sell it in small quantities).
it is terrific in higher humidity applications and for things like creating a moist hide spot.
