Do these things even exist, tame golden tegus, I mean? I have yet to find one, though I'm talking with a guy who swears he has one for sale.

i have a golden (columbian) tegu that is tame. when i first got him he was horrible and would do anything to bite me so i named him diablo.
after working with him for a while i got him tamed. i feed him inside his cage and i can still reach in and pick him up, no feeding response towards me. he is growing so fast and i was actually considering selling him to someone that has the room for him. with two very large igs, and all of my other animals, until i get my new place i am running out of room. *hi everyone, my name is sara, and i am a herp addict* lol. he went on a little fast for about a week but he is back to eating again.(note that when i say he, it is entirely a guess.) he is still young, his body is about 7 inches w/o tail(sorry thats an approximation, i dont have my record book on hand)where are you located, i am being honest when i say he is tame, you can see him if your anywhere near me. have a nice day!

I have a Golden tegu that is evil. He was worse when I first got him, but he has gotten a lot better. I think with a lot of handling and patients, you can get them to stop bitting. As far as tame, thats a big hope for me. My guy still squirms alot when I pick him up, and opens him mouth. He doesn't lung and try to bite though. He calms down eventually, but pays close attention to your grip on him. If he thinks he can get away he'll squirm again. I have put him on a reptile leash and he does ok. I have a pic of what happened when my boyfriend pestered him "to see if he'd bite." Good luck in your search. They are beautiful animals.

i realized early on that if you grip them tight so they cant turn around and bite you, they try to. if you take the chance of getting bit and just open your hand and let them sit on your hand, without restraining them, they will usually calm down.
