my girlfeind wants go get rid of her brb

APLAXAR Dec 21, 2005 12:49 PM

so my girlfreind told me the other day that she wants to get rid of her brb that I take care of and have for about 9 months now, she said that she doesnt know if she can afford to feed a larger snake like that. like i said in my first poston this forum that i am a king snake keeper by hobby, i also have corn breeders, but she really wanted to get a brb because they are beautiful animals. i think she is also intimidated by here because she will strike sometimes, but i explained what jeff suggested about turning the temps down which i did and she seems more calm, but of course my girlfreind opens up her container on feeding night and a day after she shed and she looked alittle pissed but she was just hungry, i guess my only argument about not getting rid of her is that i have been taking care of her for nine months and she has trippled in a size and is just getting more and more beautiful, so my question in at a size of 6 feet what would be the least and the most you would want to feed a brb, right now she is a on rodent pro rat puts our own home grown rat pups and rodent pro quail. well thanks for any responses on the feeding part.

Adam

At 6 foot, she is fully grown. If not planning on breeding her, I believe you could go to a maintenance diet of 1 large rat once a month. Of course that is a rule of thumb and you would have to monitor her to make sure she was getting enough to eat and/or not getting hungry aggressive.

All of my adults are breeders and my females are eating almost every week at this time of year, replenishing lost body mass and adding bulk for the upcomming breeding season where they will pretty much stop feeding.

well right now i am feeding about 1 rat pup a week, so at 6 feet a lrg rat a month would be sufficient, huh? yeah we dont really have any breeding plans that we know of yet, that could change, so if we breed our own tecnically your say with about two litters of rat grown whacked and frozen would last like a year, i would probobly feed twice a month anyway

thanks
