Question I don't think has been asked recently...

Lucien Jul 24, 2003 03:35 AM

My female gecko has already laid 7 clutches this year and its her first year breeding... 3 of those clutches were infertile.. and 1 set died due to a temp spike when my air conditioning was down.. Will she stop producing eggs eventually? She's in great health for having that many in her first year.. She eats like crazy... I'm just wondering when I should expect her to stop laying.

If its her first year I wouldnt expect to much more. Each female is different. I believe my first year females layed about 6 clutches each. Good luck with your remaining eggs.

my little leo, Beanie, was bred for the first time this year and laid 6 clutches of eggs. so i think that maybe this 7th clutch from your leo was her last. actually, Beanie started at 70g and dropped to 50g by the time she was done laying so she has done pretty well too, but i am glad she stopped laying because i didn't want her to lose any more weight.

Thanks for the info... I've been keeping my female..(Lilith) weight up by feeding her gerbil pinks right after she'd lay each clutch... She still weighs in at about.. 65 grams.. maybe a little more.. since the scale I have is old and needs to be replaced... She started out at 78 grams so she isn't going too badly...
