I have a reverse trio of Texans that are currently brumating outside, they are all around 4 years old cb/hatched/raised, when could one expect them to show sexual activity? What is the besting nesting option for them?
Cheers

The female needs to be older than 4 years to be able to breed. Sorry
sooo...would we be talking 5,6,7,? Im not in a rush to breed them, I dont have the proper facility to set them up in as far as a nesting area but I also dont want the female to becomoe egg bound from lack of a proper laying area.

I'm guessing that size would be more of an indicator of breeding readiness than age? With RES sliders, females can't start laying eggs until roughly 6-7 inches. I've had an 8" 4 yr old slider lay eggs, so why not a 4 yr old 8" terrapin? Ideally you wouldn't want a terrapin or slider to reach 8" in 4 years, but if they are that big, wouldn't they be able to breed, no matter the age?
