My Leo Enclosure

jasonw Dec 21, 2005 06:18 PM

What do ya think. Granted I have the pair in it but it is much better than the last one. The enclosure size is 55G I have an over head florescent light that is hooked up to the computer system that runs the room. Currently I have the light defaulted at 12 hours. There is also a heat lamp in there that you can see pointed at one end of the enclosure. At that same end is an under tank heat pad. I have both a temp and humidity gauge at the warm end of the enclosure. Also at the cold end is a large water dish. I am currently using reptile carpet on the bottom of the enclosure and have had good luck with both individuals on this so I will most likely keep it. A little on the system that runs it. I have a home automation computer system that runs off a fairly old P120 running windows 98. Its not much but it works awesome. The computer stays on 24-7 and controls all the different lighting and heating systems in my reptile room. On the Leo enclosure the system only runs the large “home made” wood light fixture on the top of the enclosure “Thanks dad for the awesome wood work” The heat pad stays on 24-7 and the heat light is changed by myself every night to a night heat light. There are also 3 hides in the enclosure. One just above the heat pad on the hot end of the enclosure. One in the middle and one just down stream from that. The cabinets below the enclosure are used to hold various reptile supplies not just leo supplies. Well I will let the pictures do the rest of the talking thanks for looking and hope you enjoy. P.S Please excuse the mess.

I do have a dish in there for there supliments. Its a shell. It may be hard to see but it is by the middle hide. I dont offer them crockets so there is no chasing about it. I feed the meal worms right out of there supliment shell.

Do you have a warm and cool side to the tank? There should be a dry hide on both the warm side and the cool side as well as a moist hide on the warm side. Warm hide can be just a tupperware container with a hole cut in it and wet papertowel inside.
This is my 20 gallon long and the moist hide of my leo, Hazuki.

I like your setup. Can you describe a little more of it to me? I see that thing “House” to the upper left of the first picture. Did you make that or buy it? Working with my 55G is very hard as there is a lot of space to fill as you could imagine but I am working on it. There is a cool and a hot side of the cage and there are hides on both. I am still in the process of putting this together so things kind of keep changing but so far they seem to enjoy it
