Yellow vs. Green

LesClaypool Dec 21, 2005 10:35 PM

I am debating whether or not to get a yellow or green anaconda. I have experience with retics and burms. I was wondering which ones are more docile and easy to care for. Any comment left will be greatly appreciated.

if you are seeking a better pet between the two, go with the yellow. Only buy CBB, dont bother with wild caughts. Yellows tend to be calmer than greens. Hope that helps

First of, thanks for the last reply, it helped a bunch. I would prefer the greens over yellows, but could you give me a few reasons why to pick the yellows over the grenns just to be sure that the yellow will be what i want. Thanks.

I would have to dissagree with the previous post, i have found that cbb yellows are far more agressive than cbb greens. But they both need a lot of working with. You just have to decide on how big of a snake you want? if you want a big snake get a yellow, if you have a huge snake get a green. Kelly Haller has cbb greens in the classifieds right now, supposed to be super doscile. A little more expensive then what others are selling for but from what i have heard the money is well spent. i actually have one on order and i cant wait to get him.

i agree with you right now i only have a male cbb yellow and he is more agressive then the past green i've had so for beind more docile i would have to say the green is better from my experience but with feeding yellows i've found to be easier to get to eat and have less problems with feeding

Thanks guys. I thought, even before i posted the first message, that greens were more docile, but i was not sure. Im kind of glad to hear it because i would much rather have a green. I am the kind of person that would like a huge snake. That yellow you have looks real nice tho.

I too have one of Kelly Haller/Jud McClanahan's superb green anaconda babys on hold-a female. The biggest mistake in reptiles I ever made was not getting a pair when I got my male in July of 04 from him. They are genetically docile.

I have 34 constrictors. My tamest snake by far is the male green anaconda-the only one I take out of the cage with no hook and just by hand. From day one this snake has never struck, hissed, or shown any aggression. He does not feed like my retics but comes out slowly, clearly identifies the food, and takes it easily. I handle him in blue/shed and he doesn't mind. He is about 5 foot now and is a snake that loves human interaction. I highly recommend getting one. Bill.
