What is compatible with Fire Salamander???

RocRaida Dec 21, 2005 10:40 PM

My work just got two beautfil fire salamanders and I insisted I get one of them. I already have a great natural salamander set up with one yellow spotted, three large blue spotted, and two red efts. I was wondering if they would be compatible with the fire salamander if I housed them together. The tank is 30 gals or so. Im aware of their different geographical range, but they are still temperate animals that require all the same things as my current salamanders. I know that fire salamanders are highly toxic, as well as my efts. I just dont want to lose two animals if they decide to eat eachother. Except this has never been a problem with any of my other salamanders despite size difference. Im hoping this wouldnt be a problem. From experience I dont think it would, but I just wanna be safe before I do anything.

I definitely wouldn't mix a fire salamander in your group of North American sals. In my opinion you're already pushing your luck with the red efts in there. Be safe - if you want a fire salamander, keep it separate or with another fire sal.

Fires secrete toxins that can kill or make other amphibians very ill actually no salamanders should be mixed except spotteds with jeffersons imagine marble okay to though some might disagree with me and they are probably right but your combo with the efts and the larger sallys is an accident waiting to happen.
Keep the fire by itself.
