There is one reptile society listed here for HI
http://www.anapsid.org/societies/index.html

You might contact that person to find out if he knows of anyone who rescues them in your state who may be willing to adopt them out.

I think Hawaii has VERY strict rules regarding the importation of non-native species of both animals and plants.

Try turtlehomes.org sometimes they have box turtles for adoption in Hawaii.

It's sad that so many people are able to get sulcata hatchlings in Hawaii, but no one is breeding things better for the average person.

I've dealt with a guy from Texas who told me a story about a client he has in HI. He advertises on kingsnake under Wild Ryno, Watlter's World of Pets. He's a pretty nice guy, and he has captive bred young ornates, deserts, three-toes, and sometimes easterns. He also deals with wild caught Texas locale turtles. He doesn't always have stuff up for sale, but he's a collector and breeder. He often offers his surplus stock for sale. He told me that the key for acclimating dry area turtles to humid climates is to obtain young specimens under "racquetball size". Anyway, as of this past spring, he shipped turtles to HI. Good luck.

I would still recomend either adopting a turtle, or buying a captive bred juvenile. That way you are ensuring that you aren't removing a turtle from native populations.
