THE HINDU (Chennai, India) 20 December 05 Forest staff snares giant python
Anantapur: Officials of the Forest Department caged a large python from the fields near Chillakondaiahpalli village in Tadimarri mandal on Monday. The python was 10 feet long and weighed 32 kg.
The python was first noticed by villagers on Sunday afternoon after it had swallowed a lamb and remained stationary as it was unable to move with the prey inside. The villagers tried to hold it in the same place by placing large rocks around it and informed the Forest Department.
The python broke the rocky fence set up by the villagers but could not move much further. Forest staff led by Range Officer Dharmaraju went to the village on Monday morning and caged the snake.
It was brought to Anantapur and a large number of people swarmed the forest office to watch the giant python. District Collector Y.V. Anuradha also visited the wild catch and announced a reward for the forest staff.
Later, the python was taken to Amagondapalyam village (forest) in Bukkapatnam village to leave it in the wild.
