Dying Rainbow Amieva

LeeCGirl3 Dec 22, 2005 10:50 AM

Please help me! I purchased a Rainbow Amieva from PetCo in late August. My lizard, Dose, is the only pet my parents have allowed me to keep, and the one I've found the most joy in having. If he dies, I can garauntee I'll never be allowed to have a pet again. Besides that, I would be devastated to see the only pet I've cared for this much pass. I don't know what to do!!! At about 2:00 yesterday morning, I walked over to his aquarium to find him laying completely on his stomach in the middle of the tank instead of perching on his branch or hiding in his house like usual. I touched his back, and he barely moved. Usually, he freaks out and darts around the aquarium as soon as even one finger descends. He is excessively lethargic rather than the extremely active lizard I bought a few months ago. I don't know what to do, and I fear there is no place around here that can help me. The place I bought him at had no instructions for care: I had to look them up on the internet to make sure I was properly caring for him! There are only a couple of pet stores in my area, none of them specializing at all in reptiles. Please, if there are any suggestions, make them immediately!!! I would greatly appreciate ANY and ALL assistance.

Your lizard need help. Not from a petstore. They didn't even know how to care for him. Take your lizard to a veterinarian. He'll need alot of help; they'll discuss the specifics with you.

This forum is great for advice, but it will never replace veterinary help. I"m sorry your pet fallen so ill.

Call your local vet clinic... ask if they or someone they know, sees reptiles regularly.

Go to www.arav.com for a list of reptile vets in your area. If you live out of the way, then you'll have to travel a bit; this should be a surprise.

Contact other reptile keepers in the area, zoos, reptile clubs ect to see what vets they use. This probably won't be fast enough for you today, but should have been done in hindsight.

Good luck with your lizard, I fear you'll need it
