Dan,

I love how you post your new acquisitions with such understatement. That's one mother of an addition to your collection, a very very very special snake to work with. Please keep us updated.

however this specimen arrived with a respiratory issue. Please note the swollen neck area. This fellow is over 3 foot long. I put it near a basking lamp and it coiled beneath it, so perhaps the extra heat will take care of the ailment. I tubed it 10cc's of egg and it held it down so far. I am in acquisition of caecilians so will report if either of the two specimens eat. By the way, they have such boney jaws, like a vice. And they have a mouth load of teeth to grasp their squirmy prey much like a mud snake, but an even moreso stronger jaw.

Is it a semi aquatic type of snake? I have never seen one before. How do you house them?

Thanks

Research on them said they like in soil so that is what I have for them.

Yes soil is something you can not go wrong with aslong as no chemicals, fertilizers. Did you buy them through the classifieds?
I like unusual smallish snakes problem is feeding some as you know .

Thanks

They were obtained from a friend who imports.

Oh okay thought that might have been it as I have never seen them for sale . I have a few friends in Malaysia that have offered me unusual small snakes but since they arent importers thus no permits it would be a hassle to get them in the States.
I imagine mostly small arboreal type snakes as those are sold in the market for pennies .
It must be nice to have a friend that can legally import unusual neat stuff. Good luck with the snakes maybe you can breed them.

Wow you really like those false coral snakes eh? try feeding them anoles, you can switch them over to scented pinkies and fuzzies. The one with the respratory infection, how is it doing? if you keep its enclouser humid and warm it should beat it, I have recovered many snakes this way. I even once used a tiny bit of vicks vapor rub and rubbed it on the belly of a white lipped python i got with a respritory infection and it cleared it nasal passage up in a day.
