I think I will ask James (blaberus guy) but you are probably right. They stay in their Mom for a reason!
After he ate it he just sat there with his mouth partially open - I was expecting him to burp! He looked so funny! Then he eventually made it up to his favorite perch and just let his belly hang (I REALLY need to upload some photos!) like my brother's beer belly (don't tell him - Darwin OR my brother - that I said that! lol!)
He likes things that are white, so I put just enough cal dust on it. I put it and some crix in a slick sided shallow bowl and after a few minutes I could tell he wanted it. He kept missing and then it began going in circles along the edge of the bowl - it was hysterical watching him follow it then try and get it every time it passed by him!!
- sort of like going for the brass ring.
This is actually the second he has eaten in about 2 weeks - but it is about ALL he has eaten. The OH are doing fine, have lots of nymphs and a gravid female in with them. I am sure there are other gravid females in the big tank, but I happen to see her mating and nabbed her after. Want to try and keep some of the smaller ones separate.
Darwin di end up with undigested wings so what I do is freeze them for a few minutes to slow them down then carefully cut off most of their wings. They looked like a newly sheared poodle! If Darwin doesn't eat it and I put it back in its home it always seems to be separate from the gang the next time I look. I think the poor thing is seen as the ugly duckling
Gee, can I anthropomorphize anymore than that!! :-/
