I Think my Ig is sick

FERRETS Dec 22, 2005 06:19 PM

I took in Iggy our seven year old five foot male Iguana several months ago from a family that could no longer care for him . It had been a while since our last Ig but every thing was going well till a few weeks ago . He was prefectly healthy and happy I have no clue what happened . He has just stopped eating completly , stopped thermoregulating and is very lethargic . What should I do for him and do you have any idea's what would cause this . Thanks a bunch .

Could be the cold weather.
Could be the new environment.
Could be he is not warm enough.
Could be he does not have proper UV light or not getting it right.
Could be the diet.
Could be internal parasites.
Could be the size of the enclosure.
Could be noises or sounds that stress him (any construction, barking, machinery).

Double-check that everything is properly done, set-up, fed, etc. How are his stools? What is the coloration of the skin? What is the period of time he spends in the enclosure? How long are the lights on? Does he get to free-roam? Is the diet properly balanced? Is the enclosure big enough?

If after a week the problem persist, get him to a vet right away with a fresh fecal sample, for possible parasites etc.
