sterilite tub; style change.

rbichler Dec 22, 2005 07:50 PM

I use sterilite tubs, but most all the stores here in California in the past 6 months only carry the new style of tubs. Their a lot cheaper, crack real easy, different hight dementions. So you better stock up if your racks are made for the old style of sterilite boxes.

I got some boxes from a cage mfgr alot like Freedom Breeder (all these rack mfgrs sell extra boxes). They are far and above much better than any Sterilte, Rubbermaid, Iris, etc. Stronger, thicker, no ridges and come in effective sizes.

Another option for young snakes is Cambro's food boxes. They are clear polycarbonate and strong enough to kick, drop and stand on w/o breaking. Do a google for cambro, or go to Smart & Final stores if you have those.

Check out those avenues if you are tired of the cheap .0625" thick polypropylene boxes that stores sell now.

That statement is vague and may not apply to many of us. Sterilite and Rubbermaid do change styles and when they do, the dimensions usually change as well.
What boxes are you using?
Where have you been getting them?
What other sources have you tried?
Both companies offer different models to different stores. I never buy anything at Walmart. I can always get the same boxes at Savon.
Target doesn't stock the same models. When my local Target is out of stock, there's another location just minutes away that has never let me down. Lowes also stocks boxes from both companies.
Have you emailed the manufacturer to see if that box style is being discontinued?
They have not been on sale at reduced prices for a few weeks but usually go on sale after the holidays.

That's all it was suppose to be, (A statement), not a term paper.

Sorry, I read it as helpful information and obviously I was wrong. It's not helpful at all!

It is I that should apologize, I was a little abrupt in my post to you. I don't type very well, and try to keep my posts short.
Sorry for the abrupt post, and wishing you a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
