Prepared diets for a Mali?

koashmar Dec 23, 2005 10:28 AM

Are there any commercially prepared diets for a mali to supplement (not replace!) his fruits and veggies? If not, are the bearded dragon and/or iguana pellets acceptable?

My mali is about 8 years old...what's the life span? 10 yrs?

I wish!! Eventually, someone will come up with a product but, it's doubtful that it will satisfy their hydration needs. Fresh greens will probably always be the staple, supplemented with seeds, oats, wheat, flowers & all the other good stuffs. We do provide bearded dragon pellets but they all seem to prefer Pretty Bird finch feed, given the choice.

Oops! On reread, I realized that I missed your point. Ummm, here's one to toss out; Mazuri tortoise diet. Crumbled or moistened, it may be the new thing. What say you, Lindsay & Doug?

I have seen it somewhere that the first two ingerants in muzuri turtle food are ground soybean hull, and ground corn. Neither are in a uros best interest. Also that same post mentioned that Doug Dixs was considering not using muzuri any more.
It was posted on repticzone awhile back buy uro fan, maybe debb luv uros can shed more light on this subject.
