Lots of Questions!

perseus Dec 23, 2005 04:11 PM

With heavy feeding how long does it take a ball python to reach 1500grams?
How much weight would the mother loose if you let her raise the eggs?
At what age do you start to sell hatchlings?
How long after they hatch do you first feed them?
How would I pick out the very best pastel taking into acount that I am color blind?
What is the difference between a pastel and a lemon pastel?
Any guesses as to how much a 20 inch female would weigh?

Thank you for any and all answers!

Well Perseus with good feedings it should take two years to get that big maybe one and a half if it is well started. You can sell your hatchlings whenever you want usually after they have shed and eaten a few times. They should eat right after there first shed depending on how much yoke they still have in them. In my opinion there's not much difference in a pastel as far as bell, graziani, lemon, and so on there all pastels, from different wild caught lines maybe, but there are different qualities in each individual snake. Usually bigger and better the pastel the more it cost. Maybe have a friend help you pick one out, or wait for a show so you can "hand" pick it. That way you can be sure of it's temperment too, I know I don't want one that bites the hand that feeds it. Anyways hope this helps, good luck looks like there's plenty to choose from.
Happy Holidays
