So why dont you see many caiman lizards out there for sale? for such a cool looking species, you would think there would be a market for them.
It's not the lack of demand for them which has caused their general unavailability/absence in the hobby, it is the inability to legally import new specimens, and the absence of captive breedings taking place here within the US with existing captives. Virtually all specimens which were here have died, as nobody has figured out how to properly care for them over the long term. I am also not aware of any captive breedings of this species taking place in any private or zoological collection.
