I like the chocolate a lot and those are fine looking snakes. I'm also interested in how that came about. You said you started with a blizzard? What's a blizzard (white?) Also, what did you pair the blizzard with? Just curious as to the process. The mutant genes probably include amelanism, and how about hypermelanism? I'm not well versed with the morphs. Anyway, I've always liked the browns and chocolates. That's why I got into the blue-eyed blondes. Thanks and happy holidays...TC

JETZEN Dec 26, 2005 11:29 AM

I did'nt produce these, they were received with some misc. floridana in trade for some obsoleta.
second of all, they all had het. for blizz. on their deli cups. So they obviously have that gene/genes in their background.
That's about all i can tell at this time, and i hope you enjoy the holiday season also.
I would love to see some pics of your blonds, thanks.........

ratsnakehaven Dec 26, 2005 12:08 PM

Here's a normal (het) blue-eyed blonde from Vivid stock...

This is a blue-eyed blonde showing the mutation, from Vivid stock...

I believe the Vivid mutation is either hypo or amel, not verified by me.

This last one is a blue-eyed blonde from El Dorado Co, Merker stock, 2005 baby. I don't know if it's a mutation, or not. Definitely a different line from Vivid's....

The El Dorado stock has a "blonde" phase and a normal color phase that may be gender specific. Both of these blondes have a brownish or chocolate color phase

All leads are dead ends.

Anyone know where I can get a pair of these nice solid brown/chocolate cal kings?

Thanks

Kerby...

Pastorpat Dec 24, 2005 10:12 PM

This variety if king is fairly rare, in the 80's there were many more, in the last couple of years i've only seen two or three on this forum and at least one had a very faint dorsal stripe, i would love to make a trade with you sometime but there are um-teen people in line already, and i don't expect to produce enough to satisfy the demand.

Pastorpat Dec 25, 2005 01:30 AM

Jetzen,
I am nothing if not patient!!!! I will wait!!! It's part of the Pastor thing!!!

males

I'm thinking Male #2 with females 1 & 3 and male #1 with female #2 , but it's your call... too bad the milks chocolates aren't a pair! and the Blizzard form would just kill the beauty of a nice solid milk chocolate brown cali king... even if you're not really into cali kingz you gotta appreciate the beauty of that patternless king

patternless choc. vs. blizz.. but i have developed a super interest in all phases of patternless cals, has anyone ever produced a patternless Lav.? or a yellow? or ghost? or hypo? or a blue eyed blond? or a leucistic with blue irises and black pupils?

ZFelicien Dec 25, 2005 07:22 PM

asking the wrong dude about that but i really doubt it! who knows you just may be the savior of the patternless trait in cali kings!

ZFelicien Dec 25, 2005 03:42 PM

uumm... both nice males but i like male #2 more (seem a little bit closer to milk coco than male #1)... man i hope you get some patternless babies the very 1st time you breed these! unlike others i'm very impatient!

early 05's or late 04's, how's the mite situation?

HerperHelmz Dec 25, 2005 03:54 PM

Have been gone for atleast a month... Atleast off my snakes. One at a time, snakes were transfered from the snake room to the downstairs, placed in a baby oiled enclosure for a day or two. I did that with a bunch of snakes... Cured all of them. The Provent A Mite finally arrived last week... LOL. Now I just have to spray down the snake room a couple times, and maybe then I'll consider moving the small amount of snakes I have, back in there.

My only problem right now is escapes... I've never had so many snakes escape in one year. My adult female melanistic eastern garter got loose yesterday. She's just about to shed, so she's more active than usual, and she found a way out. I happened to be walking by where the enclosures are, looked back, and saw a black snake crawling on the lids.

Still haven't found 3 kings and a baby eastern milk that got loose.

That's why I am working on a rack system of some sort... The sterilite enclosures by themselves just aren't cutting it.
